My Five Constants: An Army MSG in Belgium Reflects on Leadership Lessons

RallyPoint asked MSG Steven Stankovicha highly experienced MSG in the Army, what his "constants" of leadership are -- that is, the lessons he has learned over time that have stayed with him during his ongoing military service.  Enjoy his thoughts -- and take them to heart if you're wearing the uniform right now!

It is very difficult to drill down to one overall important lesson that I have learned over the course of my ongoing career. With each promotion and subsequent duty position, new challenges present themselves that have required relying on something picked up from the past. I am always developing new skills to tackle the current issues.  I will say that some of the constants include:

Patience, to not make a decision before you have all the facts.

Treat everyone with dignity and respect

Learn the importance of priorities of work.

Complete every mission to the best of your ability.

Always, take care of your Soldiers and their families.
